Overlapping Skillsets

Transitioning to a completely new field has progressed from fear to assessment. It's not that fears magically disappear, but there are constructive and destructive ways to handle fear. I find myself oddly at home during crises unfolding at a high rate of speed. Now that I am over 30 days in, I am identifying what professional skillsets I have that will be useful in cybersecurity. More after the jump.

The Path v1

Right now, my plan is as follows: 1) Study all Professor Messer SY0-701 videos free on YouTube - Completed(repeatedly, all 100+) 2) Complete TryHackMe's CyberSecurity 101 path - In Progress 3) Practice Tests for CompTIA Security+ - In Progress 4) Complete course work and test preparation for ISC2's Certified in Cybersecurity Certification. More after the jump.

Welcome and Why

Welcome! This short form blog is to serve as a hub of sorts for my transition into cybersecurity. My understanding at this time is that: in addition to certifications, projects are a way to help yourself stand out from the crowd. That section of this does not exist yet, but I have already begun saving beginner project ideas. I am sure this will be refined as things progress. I look at improvement and education as an ongoing process, constantly being refined. Knowledge is useless without application.
